P.E.T. Plastic Ecological Transformation is a B2B recycled polyester (rPET) specialist, providing supply chain solutions to help clients enable Plastic Neutral status in cost efficient manner, hence attaining sustainable development goals

It was founded in July 2017 by Jane Zhao, a post-80s mother of two and fashion manufacturing industry veteran. Perturbed by the state of pollution in China that her children will be inheriting, she decided to tackle the root problem of raw material. By combining the traditional textile industry with sustainable development, it not only meets the needs of the modern age, but also protects the "green rivers and green mountains" for future generations.

P.E.T. reduces environmental pollution from the root by using 100% rPET, local, certified and traceable material for all its products. This material which is technically known as recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate comes from recycled plastic bottles and can be transformed into many styles of fabrics.

By using 100% rPET instead of mixing different materials, it allows the product to be easily recycled at the end of its life cycle.

Local
All bottles are collected, processed into yarn, and manufactured into consumer products in the Shanghai, Zhejiang and Jiangsu region, hence reducing carbon footprint to the minimum.

Certified
P.E.T. TM also ensures that the entire process adheres to the highest international standards : meeting the standards of both GRS (Global Recycled Standard) and China's National Institute of Quality Inspection and Research, Shanghai Institute of Quality Inspection and Technical Research (SQI), Consumer Goods Quality center of supervision and inspection.

Traceable
Every P.E.T. TM product has a wash-label with a unique QR code that educates the end consumer about the number of PET bottles used and its production process. The future goal will be to also show the source by achieving raw material traceability.

How to Turn a Bottle into Products
Below are a few steps to explain the process:

Step 1 BOTTLE PROCESSING:
Plastic bottles are collected and sent to waste separation points throughout the city, where they are packed into 2X2 meter cubes. Cubes are then shipped to the factory, where they are manually processed to remove bottle cap and label

Step 2 BOTTLE SHREDS:
High grade and qualified bottles are then washed, sterilized and shredded into pieces

Step 3 rPET PELLETS:
Shreds are melted down into PET Pellets: now they share the same form as virgin plastic pellets.

Step 5 rPET YARN:
Pellets are further melted and pulled into strands and spun into Yarn.

Step 6 rPET FABRIC:
Yarn are then shipped to Fabric manufacturing factory to be made into rPET fabric

Step 7 rPET CLOTHING:
rPET is fabric is bought by fashion houses to make end consumer products like clothes and bags.
